Pilonidal Sinus

In hairy people who have prolonged sitting work, sometimes the friction leads to formation of abrasion at the end of tailbone which get infected and there occurs suppuration or formation of pus in it. This is known as pilonidal cyst. When pilonidal cyst infection travels beneath skin to form a track it is known as Pilonidal sinus.

Like Fistula Pilonidal sinus treatment involves surgical excision of the track followed by debridment. Bunches of hair are often extracted from the sinus by the Surgeon.

Kshar sutra treatment involves passing of medicated seton through the sinus. It leads to adequate debridement and excision controlled rate with simultaneous healing. It is one of the best treatment for pilonidal sinus.
