Piles/Hemorrhoids

Piles or Hemorrhoids are engorged veins in the upper part of anal canal which represent the set of venous plexus. They are present in normal healthy individuals too and are asymptomatic but sometimes they show various symptoms like Bleeding or prolapse, then they represent Piles disease.

Normally piles are remain within the anal canal and only prolapsed out while straining during the act of defecation. In Ayurveda Piles are known as Arshas which literally means that they harm the suffered person like an enemy.

Ayurveda text is enriched with many herbal formulations for treatment of bleeding piles. In early stages piles can be cured by medicines treatment but in later stages excision of piles by Surgery gives good results. Kshara sutra ligation procedure is also a good option for permanent removal of piles.
